CarRide Conversations April 6, 2006

Welcome to my first official post on my wordpress blog.

I entitled this welcoming post - carRide Conversations - because I have always felt that those types of conversations, if given the appropriate timing, can lead to wonderfully authentic conversations.

Like most people, I've sat in cars with other people just making small chit-chat in order to pass the time before we get to our destination. Sometimes, I feel that's how I operate as a Christian – that I'm just living in a 'chit-chat' community with other people… waiting until I go to heaven.

On the other hand, I've had many profound conversations in many car rides. I've gotten to know many friends more deeply. I have shed the skin of my protective mask and dared to open up my hurts, my emotions, and my vulnerabilities. Sometimes I even lash out.

And then it becomes hard to be with the other person(s) in the car. Cause you're there together, breathing the same air, feeding off the same emotions, trying to live out a life while journeying together.

A car ride can be messy, tiring, and wonderfully complex. And I hope to invite you on this journey with me.

Let's talk things out, figure out things together. Live out an instrumental life that will be a blessing to one another. We'll probably lash out sometimes, say some hurtful things, but I think that's what it means to have a meaningful car ride conversation
